As we venture into the kingdom of Taurus I want to remind the reader, that even though I have to isolate the influences for understanding, these processes happen all at once and over and over. I am particularly directing these energies to our physical bodies and our vehicle. This does not preclude interpretations as exclusive to what I am about to tell you. You will find the same Zodiac repeating itself through all creativity.

It seems a tragedy that this beautiful female sign has the symbol of the Bull, or even the Cow. It is much better to remember that this is the sign ruled by the magnificent Venus, the bestower of all beauty, benefits and Peace. This lovely picture at the left is called “Mermaid” and so appropriate. As female energy rules the watery mysteries, then Mer-maid is the sea woman. Thefirst sign of Aries ruled by Mars, is the dynamic male sign. Taurus, ruled by Venus is the magnificent female sign. More correctly, these signs are ruled by these planets. You will remember how important the upper head is in the Aries posting. To add to that important part of the body, we see the references to crowns, hats, auras, halos and horns. Horns were not devilish as you were lead to believe, but were an indication of great mature and successful advancement of the spiritual state. The young buck will become the great Stag. You will have to forgive me here - horny!

In this manifest sign, duality has begun and we instinctively long to be once again united as one, combining both our natures together to once again reach heaven. The struggle to balance light and dark, good and bad, up and down, is the perpetual struggle. The Egyptians called it the strait track. This balance was aided by a fulcrum which we will discuss later in Libra the scales, another Venusian sign.

We know Eros represented love, but reverse the word and we get Rose and we will talk more about this later. The ecstatic state was often called heresy from the Greek airetikos meaning - able to choose. However more truly heretics were heroic erotics! This is a very mis-understood state. Truth was always represented as a naked girl. Even the statue of Justice in Washington is naked and Mr. Ashcroft wanted her clothed! The Wiccan always talk about dancing ‘sky-clad’ and jumping over a fire.

Cinderella is Ella, female goddess of the cinders, the dark burned coals. She came from royal birth to live in her aunt’s house and waited for the handsome Prince to find her and restore her to her rightful place in the Palace - (the celestial realms.)

Cinderella shone like the Sun and lit up the whole room. Re-read the myths for the mysteries!

We keep finding references to the 7 gates or doors in mystical stories and as we are about to embark on a journey through the metaphysical body it is probably a good idea here to list some of the magical 7.

7 endocrine glands
7 Charkras
7 kinds of perception
7 natural divisions of the body
7 parts to the human embryo
7 great tissue systems
7 kinds of connective tissue
7 kinds of epithelial
7 functions
7 layers to the skin
7 divisions to the eye
7 layers to the retina
7 divisions to the ear
7 compartments or cavities in the heart
7 natural divisions of the brain
7 functions to the nervous system
7 months to renew soft tissue
7 years to replace every cell of the body

700 miles of kidney tubes
700 red to every white blood cell

This must certainly impress you!

Taurus the bull is related to the voyage of the Argonauts where Jason tames the Cretan bull. Taurus is rich with maidens in the starry heavens, as the seven Hyades and seven Pleiades, were daughters of Atlas. Taurus is also Apis the bull - modern form of “Hapi” the Egyptian god.(Hmmmn interesting name.) In Akkadia Taurus was known as the Bull of Light. The Bull of the West represents forms on the Buddhic plane or the productive energy of Buddhi (Bud Eye.)

Taurus was a time of important worship to the Druids and it has been postulated that the standing stones - tors, are the remnants of that era The female is of course, Io the cow goddess. Io was Isis and represents all female energy and the milky yielding qualities of matter. Notice the “I” and “O” from the last posting in Aries. Remember I told you that names beginning with A is original and that daughters and sons were born of it. The Cow is sacred to the Indians and they are forbidden from killing it. Now pay attention as this information unfolds in an interesting extraordinary way.

I have assigned the color Blue/Green - peacock, to this sign and indeed the Peacock throne of Persia was guarded by these royal stars 5000 years ago at the vernal equinox. Their symbol was The winged Bull of Nineveh.

It is also an interesting fact that roses, as we know them today, first appeared in Persia, this is the land where they originated. The metaphysicians who read this will find this interesting in light of the secret societies. Roses represent love and are given on special occasions indicating their Venusian symbology of love. This is a fact that is no longer sub-rosa.

The stars clustered in Taurus were known as the moist daughters. One of the stars in Taurus is Agni (lamb-Aries) the god of fire or devourer of the sacrifice. If you go back to Aries you will remember the celestial fire impresses itself in the Cerebrum and this fire heats the seed of Bran causing it to break apart. The hard shell must fall away and the seed must be soaked or anointed by the pituitary phlegm and planted in the moist earth. This is a wonderful metaphor for creation of cells to multiply and make matter. There will be more about this in Scorpio where rebirth also happens.

As above, so below. Taurus is a moist sign. We are beginning to see form and shape as the energy decreases and becomes manifest. However the body is made up mostly of water and water is matter! So Taurean identity is lush and moist. You may as well say, juicy! As the flesh forms it creates a lush juiciness. Despite all this moisture, Taurus is an Earth sign. It is fire and water combined We see the combination of the “I” and “O” as the spinning energy of a cell. All circular motion is related to the female driven by the male rod of fire. So all round objects, globes, orbs, balls and spheres represent creative motion. It is rotary, and manifests as the Fibonacci spiral in all naturally formed objects. Taurus the Bull is also called Toro and we derive the word rotate or rotor from the root source. The “I” and “O” are now seen, in a modern way, as a binary code. (I keep getting this hysterical picture of a bull running in a circle!)

The mysteries of universal language are that only three symbols were important and that these formed the unity of all symbols. The three are the CROSS the CIRCLE and the CURVE or ARCH. Everything in nature is round, even a stick, which appears strait as a lance, is round. Nature is the combination of strait and round! This will eventually become marks and symbols and eventually language which we will talk about in Gemini.

The first symbol below is the sign for consciousness or the Sun, the second is woman, third, man, fourth is Earth, the fifth sign is the and/or sign and the other symbols are self explanatory.

TAURUS defined is Tau - a cross and rus means rustic or rural (earth.) Or Tor (stone) and rus(earth.) This means precipitated mineral elements. The Tau cross is the mark of the beginning and end of things manifest. Roughly translated this means - X marks the spot! In the Tarot, Tau is the World and is the Alpha and Omega. To state this in a simpler way, Taurus is where the first visible manifestation takes place. Things begin to take shape. Your material is organized! They can be identified, which means they can be given a name! You can be identified visually.

The areas of the body ruled by TAURUS are the cerebellum, lower face and jaw, ears, throat, thymus (which shrinks at puberty) and co-ruler of the thyroid with Gemini. Once again take apart the word cerebellum and you get cere - seed and the bellum - is the bull who roars and bellows!Bellum is Latin for war or antagonism. Taurus rules the throat and voice and it is the voice box, with its vocal cords, that creates sound. The myth states that when spirit became trapped in matter, by lowering its frequency, it cried out in anguish. The Bull bellowed once it found its voice and the first sound was heard! Notice how the cerebellum looks like an upside-down tree. The cut-away view reveal the cerebellum’s internal arbor vitae(“tree of life”) form. Trees and nature are ruled by Taurus.

Taurus or Torus also means round swelling or protuberance. So all the budding you see in Spring is the beginning of protuberance! The cerebellum is the contending animal brain to the cerebrum which is the God brain and is Rama the most high. The upper brain, cerebrum is where we store our gold, but once we leave Paradise and the Garden of Eden, the gold turns to green/gold. Because the upper head was the bank or place where we store our gold (wisdom,) in ancient days it was called the Gold of Ophir, in Hebrew- the fruitful region. Now look at Ophir differently - O-fir. The fir was traditionally the tree of life and contains the pine cone (pineal). The year-long green color now representing all vegetation and materialization.

As humans we hold all material as valuable. Taurus is the sign of values and traditionally is interpreted as a (green) money sign. However it also represents assets we offer others for trade and our ability to be paid for them. The color vibration has lowered from the blue to the blue- green to the green. . We know of the myth of Lucifer leaving Heaven and a green stone fell from his head to the Earth below. Lucifer is light and the vibration is slowing, creating matter which is represented by green.

From the original essence and brain dew, there is a 12 step reduction process corresponding to the twelve signs, bringing the essence into a different state or condition and becoming earthy and tangible. E-motion or energy-in motion, now sets up a state between fire and water and the burning off of the residue waste. This waste can be stored in the individual cells from the lymph system and creates a puffy, water-retention state. The cell salt called for here is Natrium Sulph which is a reducing salt. It extracts the toxic water waste from the cells to be eliminated. When the cells become engorged a breathlessness can occur. Loss of H (breath of God) and the weariness is the lack of fire. With a lack of fire the body cannot work. The body agitates itself in an effort to throw off the excess by perspiration, even malaria chills and fever. Spasms occur in the muscles, vascular and nervous systems. Sulphur is found in most cells and is a very important element in Alchemy. Natrium Sulph is the remedy.

At the base of the cerebellum the two nervous systems cross and control the opposite side of the body. This crossing looks like an X and astrologically becomes one of the four fixed signs and part of the cross of transformation. Actually this is the cross on which Man hangs himself! The cross, of course, is the Roman numeral for 10 and there we are again back to “ I” and “O”. The X is also a multiplication sign, signifying multiplication of cells or divine cosmic germ cells, the little fishes! It is also interesting to note that the X is also a sign for a kiss. We now have the male Aries and the female Taurus in all its feminine glory, the duality begins and the enormous attraction to each other and the desire to be united once again in Spirit. Taurus is known as a very romantic sign. The time of the year is Springtime where the Sun’s energy is growing in strength, so the root of the word May, Taurus’s month, is from Sanskrit Mag, meaning to move. How magnificent. Roses bloom their best in May.
.
Bacchus was originally Dionysus the vegetation God of moisture and wine (blood). He was also known as Pan and the god of pleasure and civilization. This indicates the Venus connection, the planet that rules Taurus. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra. Taureans are good natured devoted, and hard working. They love beauty and can be profoundly creative, once patience is learned. They avoid all ill feeling and they are governed by their senses and affections. The myths describe wild orgiastic festivals. Conception was very easy as Venus rules fruitfulness. Jollity and frivolity reigned during May and dances in the round were prevalent. The May pole dances, (a circle and rod,) merry-go-rounds, Wiccan circles and rings were all activities celebrating the cycle of life. Drinking wine from the past year’s harvests was symbolic of drinking in the wine of spirit and the rapturous madness and intoxication that this contact had at this celebration. If you had diligently labored, you would enjoy the wine of wisdom from the grail.

The erotic energy generated here reflects Taurus’s complimentary sign of Scorpio which rules the genitals and the reproductive organs. As the Taurus ruler Venus rules the early part of the day, we find myths of the Cock crowing out the beginning of dawn.

Of course the cock is synonymous with the penis which tells us that the energy must move by friction back up to the upper penis or pineal gland (pictured) It is in fact the pineal gland that registers light and dark. When the Sun rises, the pineal in turn wakens us. More about the ‘Cock’ and ‘Peter’ in Scorpio.

Dionysus, the God of the grape and vine, carried a Thyrsus which is the stalk of a plant twined with vine and ivy leaves. Carry your mind back now to the physical body and see the Thyrsus as your spine and the vine leaves twined as the nervous system and blood carrying system. The wine always means blood and the nervous system we will look at in Gemini. Go back and read your myths again in light of creation and what was being passed on to us.

The Dionysian mysteries are loaded with symbology and a great education can be gleaned if you have eyes to see.

The stories of Dionysus indicate that as long as he was acknowledged as divine everything was wonderful, but when his divinity was denied (spirit) he was violent and punishing. His cult encouraged the release of apparent irrational impulses which gave freedom, identification with the god and thereby happiness. His cult was open to everyone from the young to the old. He was known as the god of moist nature, sap, blood and sperm and all things mysterious, including uncontrollable tides and the ebb and flow of nature. Wine (blood) was only a means to have union with God, but there were others more potent - namely dance.

Perhaps now one can see more clearly how important it is to follow your instincts, feelings and passions. If they are denied, the natural harmonious flow is halted and dis-ease occurs. It appears that a free licence to frenzied joy and ecstacy is given as long as it is not destructive, whereupon it turns to horror and punishment. This smacks of sexual or creative energy denied. The dancing creates a state of standing outside of oneself and the whirling sloshes the brain fluids upsetting balance, this extricates the personality temporarily. In a more passive conservative way, the walking of mazes or labyrinths has the same effect. It is important that the mazes be lined up correctly with the four magnetic directions. Here one seeks communion with something beyond the ordinary. Rocking, whirling, twirling and wheeling like the Dervishes has the same effect.

In the myths, the Min/a/tau (Gemini/Taurus) was at the center of the labyrinth and some Babylonian tablets called the labyrinths the “Palace of the Intestines” or the bowels of the earth, once again a reflection of the Scorpio complimentary, opposite sign. However it is also the area of the secret and sacred which we will get to in Sagittarius. I spoke of the secret and sacred in the upper head. Now I am talking about the lower secret and sacred in the lower head where the penis and pineal are related. So the jokes about the big head and the little head are humorously correct. The penis is an organ that can play a great tune! By the way did you notice that the testicles are a rod with orbs!

We cannot move on without stating the importance of the voice and sound. Remember we started with the Universe - one song. Then the (S)tone which leads us to the voice box and sound which is our ability to sound off! I am very particular about the frequency ranges which also identify the colors as we go along. At the top range we have ultra-violet and the unmanifest sound. We drop down to the blue/green and the area of the voice box and sound is heard and made. The ancients used the image of the swan to represent unmanifest sound. Suonare (sound) and swan were the same and came from the original Sanskrit. One talks of the swan song and the terrible cry as the swan dies. The swan is a soundless bird, but the myth states that it cries as it falls in vibration and cries out at its loss. The cry indicates a change of state as in an Opera singer’s “swan song.”

Years ago when I was researching the voice box I found that there are two pairs of folds one pair are the true vocal cords and the other are false vocal cords and soundless. The voice box is symbolically the Lyre. The tongue also is related to creation as it aids in making sound. It can say your name. A thing has a name once it is organized. How magnificent are the myths and the symbology. The Lyre looks like a voice box with the strings representing the vocal cords. All these functions fall into the kingdom of Taurus. Have you ever noticed that when we are in a hyper, shocked or surprised state that we put our hands over our mouths? This is a sub- conscious need to prevent our Spirit (breath) from leaving. We cover our orifices!. By the way, Venus was fathered by Jupiter in the guise of a swan, so you can now see a connection and a great metaphysical symbolic truth hidden in myth.

By now you can see that there are so many processes in the head, many not mentioned here because of time and space. We didn’t even get into genes and atomic structure of the cell. I suspect by now you are overloaded, but I cannot finish before I mention the Chin. The chin aids in talking and eating and there are nerve endings and charkra points of influence to our development. A strong chin indicates strength and courage. We are told as children to “keep your chin up” or “take it on the chin.” One supports the chin in the hand, to think. We massage our chin to ponder. In fact areas of the chin are labeled,, mental foramen and mental protuberance all indicating some connection to thinking and rationalizing.

So now maybe you will prop you chin in your hand, ponder the above and maybe chew on it for a while. You may be encouraged to voice your opinion as you take note of the creation taking place right in front of your eyes. Now you will label them and give them a name.

In closing I would like to mention that during this year, 2004, the Dragons head is in Taurus. This should encourage you to dance, sing, eat, and enjoy as if the whole year was a Bacchanal. Indulge in the best celebration of joy and revelry about life itself. Ignore the Dragon’s tail in Scorpio that brought us the sex scandals, war and death. Conspiracies and devilish plots abound.

Go make love, smell the roses, cuddle up to your loved ones as you drink in all that is beautiful around you. As you relax in peace, allow your erotic energies to take you to the ecstatic state, where you will join in the true reflection of the Divine above and all around you.

Next month I shall confuse you even more with the trickster twins and the magical Thoth. We shall enjoy the playful energy of Puck and sprinkle Fairy dust in your eyes! The Fool’s journey continues!
