I shot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth I know not where.

Well, you have had the challenge of lofty peak experiences through bliss in the last Scorpio posting, or you ignored the lot and partied hardy! Sagittarians are known for their love of outdoor activities, whether watching or playing. They throw themselves into adventures wholeheartedly with the fearlessness that would intimidate an average man. This lucky sign is ruled by Zeus/Jupiter and also strongly influenced by the centaur, Chiron the teacher of law, ethics and healing.

The Babylonians represented the Supreme Deity as an Archer shooting a three headed arrow (Fleur de Lis?) The Bow was also the weapon of Diana and Apollo (Moon and Sun.) The arrows were also the lightening bolts of the supreme power of Jupiter (Light.) In old English arrow was originally arewe, the light of the Ewe (Aries.) In Sanscrit arrow is ishu - light of HU. The arrows crossed are the cross of Lux (light) and are tipped with the heart of Eros. The arrows were the weapons of Eros or Cupid. The Bow is also the rainbow with its various HUes and when combined create WHITE LIGHT. This rainbow is also your Aura.

First I want to set up where this is all going. The thread has led us from the cosmic realms through the body and back up to the head again. However because of our dual nature, one animal, one divine, two parts of the body are involved.

The first is the Temple - the forehead. Where else would a God reside, but in the Temple. The second is the Sagittal arch of the pelvis ruling the hips, giving strength to the buttocks for long journeys and heavy duty sports, if you know what I mean!

THE HIPS, SACRUM AND THIGHS

Zeus/Jupiter put Bacchus/Dionysus in his thigh with the help of Ilithia. Ilia is Ilium - the broad portion of the hipbone, the pelvic basin that encloses the entrails or intestines. Theo-thio means combining form - sulphur (fire) from the Greek Theion for sulphur. (It means the alchemical sulphur, mentioned in Scorpio, that is formed in the pelvic basin.) Yes! We love that fire! Sagittarius also rules the hips, thighs, femur, loins or flank which is the lower back. When we quote the saying, “fruit of my loins” the word ‘loin’ can be a euphemism for the workings of the male reproductive organ.

The sagittal or keystone of any arch is the one right in the middle. It is the most important stone of all. Notice the interesting arch in the picture and the two lions (two nervous systems.) The same goes for the base of the spine and the sagittal connection of the two hips. Hips is Latin for Hippo which is a horse. A sea horse is a hippocampus. From the word ‘hip’ we get Hippocrates - the father of inductive philosophy and medicine and of course, the Hippocratic Oath of Doctor/ healers. The hips then relate to higher thought! Equine is also horse and from this word we get equitable, equation and equal. Sagittarians demand fairness and equality.

The sea horse (hippocampus) descends from the semi fluidic state in the brain - the oceans of thought - and becomes the neural fluid at the base of the spine (esse.) It is then returned to Jupiter by the white eagle to the Mt. Olympus Temple to awaken intuition and the immortal fire. This completes the ring.

THE TEMPLE

The temple is where we find the secret, sacred inner sanctum and inner functions of the brain, spiritual, chemical and physiological. Sacred - from “sacral” refers to the lower part of the spinal column and “secret,” from secretions, gray matter or oil in the upper brain, the fountain of life, the “Secret place of the Most High” - Heaven!

The nectar of the gods in myth, was a sweet liquid produced by plants, an ambrosia, a food that kept them immortal. It was probably made from honey and is possibly mead. Bees are connected to Jupiter. This ambrosia is produced in our Temple also.

The caudal equina (horse tail ) sacral nerves control the sexual glands to produce the milk that fed Jupiter. This milk/esse from the glands was carried up by the Goat and fed to Jupiter by the nymphs Adrastea and Ida (pineal and pituitary.)

Prometheus/Mars stole the fire from Jupiter (fluidic electrical energy) and brought it down to earth and concealed it in a narthex (a box for unguents.) In the physical body, at the base of the spine, the Bartholin (male) and Cowper (female) glands are the creators of the oil/unguents.

Back up in the Temple is an inner chamber called the Thalamus. A thalamus is an interior room - a woman’s bedroom, (the Queen’s chamber.) Here the Hypo-thalamus area regulates certain functions of the brain and limbic system. Located close to the pituitary and pineal are the choroid plexus where a mysterious transformation takes place between the blood and the cerebrospinal fluid. The red becomes crystalline clear. Red to white, valor to victory. The fornix, which is shaped like a pyramidic arch, and sits under the corpus callosum contains pillars and ventricles and rooms for special functions. There is actually a portion termed the lyra because it looks like a harp.

HERE IS THE SACRED TEMPLE (HEAVEN) WHERE THE ANGELS PLAY THE HARP

This PYRAMID CAPSTONE area contains elements in a critical state - liquid, gasses and solids along with all the mysterious hormonal interactions for thought power.

Jupiter’s equal and wife was Juno, her celebration day being during June, opposite Jupiter’s December. From both these names we derive terms related to law and religion. Jus is Latin for rights; juris-prudence for law. A jurant is one who takes an oath. Religion is performed in a Church and physiologically that is the perfected cerebrum. Here is the Bridal Chamber! Couples get married in a Church

Or perhaps it is the Insane Asylum!

Jupiter’s nut was a walnut, resembling the convolution of the brain. New ideas are often termed ‘nutty.’ An insane asylum is called a ‘nut’ house. The Latin name was Juglans Regis - King Jove nut! Jupiter was also known as Jove and if we reverse the first letter we get Love. If we don’t get the emotions (lions) under control, we can be driven mad with love (Leo) and desire (Scorpio.)

MYTHICAL GODS CONNECTED TO SAGITTARIUS

Indra was the Indian Zeus/Jupiter. He lashed the world with tempests and rain. He made blood and the sap in the plants to circulate. He had a thousand eyes and a thousand testicles (Oh my!) and was master of the fields and plough. He made land, beasts and women fruitful. He was the promoter of life from the Creator. Zeus also was the father of the gods, master of fertility and fate. His name means “bright shining” - the bright day and living sky. Sagittarius is a fire sign, and tremendously powerful.

Zeus turned himself into different beasts and birds to fertilize Mortal women. One was a swan. We mentioned earlier that birds wings represent both lobes of the brain and its inner sanctum. The fact that it was a water bird implied fertility. He did this to father children on Leda. Sagittarius was symbolized in Egypt as the Ibis or Swan.

The Centaur Chiron was born half man half horse and immortal. He was the only survivor when the others died off due to drinking and wild living. Chiron became the teacher of many heroes and was the originator of healing and medicine. He was a genius healer, astrologer and oracle. He ruled the power of crystals and taught heroes how to discover their destiny. By now, if you have been following previous postings, you realize that Chiron represents a function of the inner sanctum, (the King’s Chamber.) We know this because he was immortal and a God.

His name later became connected as a root word with Chiral which means polarization of light from one hand to another, Chiromancy - the reading of the hand. Chiropractic, the healing of the joints and bones. Chirothesia - healing with hands during sacred rites and Chirugery which later became surgery. Chiromancy is magical divination which is a search for the exact place and time of awareness. This suggests the astrological divination.

In Gemini, Sagittarius’ opposite sign, we were introduced to the lower mind and rulership of the hands. Now in Sagittarius we have the rulership over the higher mind and the use of the hands for the above. Sagittarius also rules, law, religion, fairness, higher education and long trips and voyages. It is a seeker of Truth. Obviously with these goals we require the best chemical combinations to take place in the ‘Temple.’

Temples in the past were places of ‘work,’ which is the root word of - ‘worship.’ They were places of science and learning. You were only accepted in after your Initiation (in Virgo) and found worthy. To enter college today a cruder standard is still used. Apparently no standard is required to enter a Temple or Church now.

The Centaur with his bow and arrow, is the symbol for Sagittarius. Sagitta is an arrow for the Archer. The bow is the arch of the pelvis and the arrow is the spine with the arrow-shaped coccyx, the arrow tip. In Britain arrows were called bolts and in the Aztec arrows represented thunder. The Cheyenne Indians venerate four medicine arrows as their main tribal totem object. The word Sagitta is derived from the root Sagio which means to perceive quickly and keenly. This certainly relates to the higher mind.

As Zeus sent bolts of lightening through the cosmic sky, they landed as cosmological sub personalities - known as man. The jagged bolts of fiery substance are a symbol of virility and desire, as in being pierced with cupid’s arrows from the Gemini posting. Knowing the rulership of the higher mind, you can understand how we are ‘lit up” when we have a great idea. A light bulb, cartoonishly drawn above our heads, indicates- the lights are on and someone is home!

The color for Sagittarius is red/red violet, as above. The red for fire and the violet of evolved man creeping in. These are really Royal colors. Red/red violet people aspire to heights. They are ambitious and quite energetic, accomplishing a great deal with lots of enthusiasm. They are versatile and sincere excitable, jovial and optimistic. They are prophetic and able to see the end at the beginning, they can send thoughts.

They can be idealistically chivalrous and foster warm human relationships. Their ideal is love of man and woman joined with knightly perfection and spiritual maturity. The most virtuous though prefer the supremacy of lofty spiritual values over the worldly virtues of chivalry and courtly love.

If this evolved man sounds too perfect - well there is the back side of the horse! - The horses’ ass! The couch potato with the remote and a beer belly. This is where we find the immature adult, chasing balls. Yes they love balls! All sizes from golf balls to basketballs. Or else they chase women with their own balls! Both sexes are involved here too. They have a problem with putting their “foot in their mouth” by being too blatantly honest and tactless. They argue from their uneducated and unworldly point of truth. They are hard to tie down to responsibility and are off chasing some new fun. (They see ideals through rose colored glasses.) They are out of phase and disassociated!

Notice how this centaur was killed for running off with Hercules’ wife! Justice the old fashioned way. They can be very moral or immoral.

The horse reference is very interesting. We talked about the ‘night mares’ and ‘equinox’ back in earlier chapters. The horses of the mind have to be guided away from the of the Scorpion. Other symbols were the Unicorn and Pegasus the winged horse. We should mention that a horse is often called a Nag (annoying and ill tempered) and a Naga is a serpent in India. All these symbols neatly fitting in with what we have previously discussed. An old term for Nagas meant the buttocks.

THE CRYSTAL ARROW

The mineral or tissue salt for Sagittarius is Silica or Silicea. It is quartz! A little white rock! When it is examined under a microscope, you will notice that it is a lot of little arrow heads! When you sit on a beach, you are sitting on a lot of little crystals as sand is made up of quartz or silica.

Last posting we discovered Calcium Sulphate which comes from the liver, seat of the soul, (another Jupiter rulership) where it destroys worn out red blood corpuscles, by extracting their water and the little arrows of silica help. It is the little surgeon’s blade searching out debris to be extracted and destroyed. The Calcium Sulphate extracts and toxins and the Silica digs it out.

Because blood is chemically identified with seawater, the little fish cells swim the sea, are purified by the Liver and redeemed. The red color builds the liver and red corpuscles for circulation.

Have you ever wondered why celery and other vegetables stand upright and don’t flop over? Silica stiffens the stems of grains and vegetables. Physically it is in the connective tissue between the cerebrum and the cerebellum and a lack causes difficulty in thinking. (Absent mindedness .) It is the crystal in the eye for a lens along with Calcium Fluoride which adds elasticity. It is also found in the hair, making it glossy. It is found in skin, nails and the membrane covering and protecting the bone and nerve sheath, called neurilemma and in some bone tissue, making them strong and firm.

A quick remedy for lack of silica is to take 2 tablespoons of steel cut (unprocessed) oats in a glass, pour hot water over and let stand overnight. Drain and drink the liquid.

Symptoms of lack are; redness around eyes and nostrils; angry looking eruptions; lack of perspiration; falling hair; sties on the eyelids; cataracts; hearing loss; catarrh with discharge; gum ulcers; ulcerations anywhere; liver problems; hip joint pain; odorous feet; neuralgias night sweats etc. And of course, mental weakness. Symptoms can be worse at night and at the full moon.

This rock crystal or quartz occurs in hexagonal prisms, crowned by six-sided pyramids. Its symbol is a triangle which is also the symbol for fire. It is used for hardness and chemical stability. The celestial fire makes us immortal and allows for transcendence into the highest planes of existence and attainment! This is where you will find the vault of your Bank where you store the - ‘Coin of the Realm.’ You need a clever mind to be able to - ‘Coin a phrase!’

Intuition must be clean and clear cut and the crystal silica is the best nutrient to allow thoughts to be instant and accurate. The higher mind is a bridge over which each of us must cross to enter into Paradise!

Shakespeare wrote - “Mount, eagle, to my palace crystalline!”

So to finalize this I am going to quote some interesting philosophical statements for you to ponder over to exercise your higher mind.

In every act, prompted by fear, is the germ of it’s own defeat.

Accept truth as authority and not authority as truth!

What is absent and desired by recognition of its absence, imposes itself because it’s “void” exists! (De Lubiscz)

Life is a succession of filling voids made present by their absence.

Your signature or essence is a field of awareness which interacts with self and becomes mind and body.

You are consciousness which then creates the mind/body.

The metaphysical perspective is based on intellectual intuition which by its very nature, is infallible because it is a vision by the pure intellect. Whereas profane philosophy operates only with reason, hence with logical assumptions and conclusions. Metaphysics satisfies the needs of intellectually gifted persons.(Wilson)

True sincerity is the mark of a person taken in by his or her own act! (Satre)

In the Tarot Sagittarius is symbolized by the Temperance card which represents the union of opposites - the Alchemical marriage and the combination of forces to create the Elixir of Life. The Great Work!
