My frustration in interpreting these old myths, symbols and scriptures, is that you will become overwhelmed and struggle to understand. However it will become simpler once you follow my clues. You have to get into the habit of using your right brain to interpret symbols and all will become clear. An interest in language and it’s origins helps and of course riddles, reverse images and ‘sounds like’ words.

We have now reached a very interesting segment of our journey. Capricorn, the very top of the astrological wheel ruling promotions, honors, career awards, professional opportunities and status. Capricorn also rules Government, Judges, Officials, Kings and people of importance. So far as status and success, this is as far as a human can go.

The top of the head is called the Crown and very important and religious people place crowns, miters, and headdress to denote their rank or status. These headpieces are adorned with gems, badges, feathers and symbols. Another indication of importance are horns and antlers. Humans love to elevate themselves. The Crown chakra, our highest spiritual point is located here.

You only get to the top and success with discipline, hard work, setting your limits and using your time wisely to reap the fruits of your labor. Nothing is given to you here. You have to earn it! Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, is known as the planet of karma, time and destiny. It indicates the work you have to do in this lifetime by yourself. Oddly he is also lord of weights and measures and the minting of coins.

We cannot go further without mentioning Cronus (time.) He is Saturn’s counter-part. After his birth he castrated his Father, Heaven, with a sickle and thereby separated Heaven from Earth and so the unmanifested became manifest. Time began along with the seasons. Every year old Father Time gives way to the new babe and the new year. The King is dead, long live the new King!

As it is the mid-winter and cold, the ancients could only live on what they had put away during the year and stored up in the granaries or cornucopias . The energy has been in-drawing as the Sun has moved away as far as it could. A Hebrew word Janum means slumber and the Sun has been slumbering. On the Solstice, the 21st, being reborn and returning, the new King is born and on the way. At dawn the light gets brighter every day. The word January is derived from the Roman God Janus, who was the God of beginnings. He was the Ancient of Days and ruled over beginning and end of life, the agricultural year, gateways and openings!

As Saturn is Capricorn’s ruler, its supposed negative interpretation is SATAN who stands in the doorway of the Temple. He is the tempter who endeavors to stop those who try to enter Heaven. Those who have evolved and perfected themselves will be able to enter and Satan will not be able to get them to “look back.” Janus had two faces, one of an old man and the other of a youth. One face gazes into the past and the other the future. If past lessons were sufficiently severe and lessons learned, the spirit is not likely to be tempted and can enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

This is St. Peter at the Golden Gate.

This gateway was called the Strait Gate -

“Because STRAIT is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” - Matt.7:13

One gate physiologically is at the bottom of the Spine. Capricorn rules the first three vertebrae at the base and this information carries on from the last two postings about the coccyx and sacrum. The body of fluid, created by the glands at the bottom is for procreation; the body of fluid at the top gate (Crown) is for creation and recreation. Remember in the last posting we talked about the Goat Amalthea who fed Jupiter on Mt. Olympus (Crown.) If this fluid was not taken by the goat to the head, Jupiter would starve to death. An so it goes for man also. The brain must be fed from these glands.

The Goat man was called Pan and the esoteric meaning is FEEDER or NUTRIENT. Notice in the picture Pan handing out the bread. So the Goat/Sea Horse is symbolic of the nutrients that must rise to the Temple to manufacture the sacred essences or divine nectar that sustain life and spirit. The word ‘Panis the root of many interesting words, such as pantry, pan the receptacle and panacea, meaning cure-all. Panis in Latin is bread. So the essences that come down from the Temple are the Living Bread, The Bread of Life, Manna. If the nutrients or bread are not wasted in sexual excess it then becomes the LORD’S SUPPER in the upper chamber.

Aha! It all becomes very clear that the myths and parables were talking about functions of the body and how to stay healthy and evolve spiritually and magically! Now read on and be amazed...

After Libra (the Gate of Decision,) there is a balance point at which the spirit, ensouled in the corpuscles, has to go down into the pit, the Gate of Capricorn, be tempted by the Devil and remain for THREE days. As the Hebrew word Janus means slumber or inactivity, this is analogous to the fire chained to earth. The spiritual fire is in a slum, a squalid neighborhood. This refers to the fact that in and around this area is the colon and the gate for wastes that leave the body. Note the Tarot card of the Devil and the humans chained to his chair. But if you look carefully, the bindings are loose and man can escape any time he chooses. His captivity is an illusion.

This is an important area to remember. Students of Magic know that the most precious treasure can be found in the foulest of places. Hidden in an area that nobody would think to look, but right there, ready to be discovered.

After spirit works out its own salvation it returns to the Father as the Prodigal Son. At this point the Divine Baby, the New Man is created within.

O.K. O.K! It’s a simple chemical physiological process whereby the fluids are either changed into procreative eggs and sperm (sheep) or return to the Temple, up the spine, for physical regeneration and longevity. The latter increasing the intellectual capacity.

When we start out in life we are Goats, but when we gain wisdom and education we become peaceful Sheep. That is why we receive the Golden Fleece at graduation.

The above process was called Biblically -

SEPARATING THE SHEEP FROM THE GOATS.

One of Saturn’s rulerships is binding together or limitations and aging. Physiologically this refers to the skin holding the body as one. It is the cohesive vibration of nature that creates different separations and therefore identification. It is our Hide - what we ‘hide’ behind. Notice in the picture the aging from birth to death, Saturn’s rulership - time.

We create a tough hide to handle life’s challenges.

This then creates protection and support. Capricorn also rules the bones and skeletal system, particularly the knee as well as organ separations. One of the stars in the Capricorn constellation is called Capella and the main bone in the knee is called the Patella! Pa meaning Father and Saturn is referred to in an astrological chart as the Father. Bones are the foundation of the body.

Saturn, despite the general opinions, gives one the ability to overrule the emotions and sensibilities. The energy is deeply intellectual and psychological. His nature is basically divine and will bring real joy in life once you know your limits. This is symbolically represented by the cornucopia full and overflowing.

The skeleton system is made up of joints and the word is derived from the Latin Jocare - to play - as in jocular. The joints play together, they have space and room to play but move freely within limits. They also move swiftly to and fro to discharge fire for motion.

These joints are an erogenous zone as in the armpits and behind the knee, ankles and wrists. Any two lines forming an angle are charged with a genital meaning because of the perceived “good place” in the niche between the legs.

In Hebrew, knee is womb in the female and generative in the male.

In Hittite the knee is the female organ

and in Akkadian, knee is penis or birku.

In Greek, genu is knee and then the words that derive from this origin -

genuflect, genuine (authentic) ingenuous and genesis etc.

So knee, joint, generation and origin all mean the same thing.

The joints are considered nodes.

In Greek ‘skelos’ means the leg above the knee and ‘skelus’ means crooked and wicked.

Another relationship is the word Janu which in Sanskrit is knee which is analogous to Janus and January. Remember the Goat must kneel to feed and we already know that the goat is symbolic of nutrient. The nutrient then must climb to the Crown Temple.

When one is perceived to be ‘too high and mighty’ they can be ‘brought to their knees!’

‘To come to one’s knees’ is humility or to beg - to come down. Egyptians knelt to birth, we kneel in prayer, we kneel before important people.

In my position of Counselor I have found over and over that someone who has been humbled, had great losses and fallen from on high, often have bad knees or suffer pain in this area, until their status is returned. They are in a state of PANIC and Pan is the instigator of groundless fear.

In Freemasonry there is a facetious comment about “riding the Goat.” This means that the initiate must learn to control his passions. One casts (metaphorically) their sins on a goat who becomes the scapegoat. To be’ made a goat of’ - means to take the blame! Silly Goat!

The picture is of the intelligent Silenus who was always drunk and riding a cloven hoofed beast. He was drunk on wine or mead made from honey (the Divine Nectar.) His intoxication was from the wondrous sluices in the Cerebrum and the happiness it brought him.

You end your days under Saturn and Capricorn and are reborn in the opposite sign Cancer and the womb. The three calcium signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn which are the basis of life.

The fear and panic comes from the fact that the body is deficient in its ruling mineral Calcium Phosphate. (Calx.) When this calcium is missing there is no mental stamina or moral support. The mind is not able to travel in a strait line (wisdom) and one is crooked and not strait forward, They are two faced, underhanded, sinister and selfish. Altruism and honor have been abandoned. One becomes a “crook” or “crooked.”

Peter asked the elders to feed the flock of sheep until the Chief Shepherd appeared.

The pastoral staffs and crooks are symbols of the leaders of the flock. The heavenly shepherd was the feeder and giver of Divine Nectar. The Shepherd was known as King also, who leads with law and justice and tends the flock (sheep.) The crook came from an early depiction of the letter “P” which stood for Pa, the Father. A priest is called Father and is the leader of his flock. Pa means to protect and nourish and is in Latin pater and Italian padre and parens or parent. In Maori it is pata. All these words and symbols indicating Capricorn and Saturn’s rulership over Kingship and Fatherhood.

In its positive sense Saturn stands for truth, stability, honest values, honor and integrity from working out the karmic test the Universe presents. Self improvement and an honest effort toward right-living are absolutely essential. By supplying the body with the correct balance of nutrients, the life will be smooth and easy, decisions easily made and integrity a constant. One becomes ‘strait.’

‘Satan’ reversed is ‘Natas’ which is Nata S and comes from the Greek nascor meaning the sum and to be born. Natalis means relating to birth, natal and natis mean the rump or buttocks. All this indicates is that Satan is the mirror image of God, the opposite polarity. God rules the wonder of birth from the buttock area and Satan is the reverse and eventually brings aging, death and endings. This energy is not without soul - that is why the word ‘Satan’ has the S snake energy of soul.

The scriptures mention the Unicorn. Uni means one and corn means a number of things namely, seed, head, horn, cornucopia and cerebrum. The cornucopia was associated with the goat Alamthaea who fed Jupiter in the last posting. The cornucopia was a horn whose interior marrow supplied abundance, plenty and sufficiency. (The same as our bones.) Saturn is the sower of the seed - the corn. It is symbolic of the rewards of a good life. This mystical Unicorn only lived on high and trampled the unworthy with its hoofs. Any cloven hoofed beast was considered earthly and those with wings were spiritual as was Pegasus.

Capricorn, means goat-corn or goat that carries the seed. Capra is a she-goat. Capripes is a goat footed satyr. So you can readily see why Capricorn’s symbol is the lowly Goat.

The seeds (semen and eggs) contain more calcium than in the blood. Calx (calcium in Latin) is actually a white stone or pebble that was used in games. The chalky limestone marked the beginning and the goal and so it does in the body. (Remember the myth of Cronus/Saturn swallowing a stone thinking it was one of his children?)

We mentioned above, Peter at the Gate. Peter is the same as Petra which means stone. The word petroleum consists of two words, Petra (stone) and oleum (oil.) It is a mineral oil. There is an expression - to ‘peter out,’ which means to run out of fuel or be exhausted. Peter is also analogous to the sacral nerves controlling the sex glands. Paul is analogous of the Cerebrum. This gives us the expression -“ robbing Peter to pay Paul!” During war time saltpeter was put in the food of the soldiers to inhibit their sex drive. The saltpeter reduced the engorged glands that creates desire by relaxing the involuntary fibers which create spasms. I’d say this is robbing Peter!

Now let us examine what supports us in all these endeavors. The miracle nutrient and the most prolific in the body is Calcium Phosphate. It is the most important and should be taken before any of the others. It is in our skeleton, teeth and every cell. Limestone constitutes the foundation. The mortar (albumin) from the pituitary combines with the limestone calcium to form basic body parts.

A lack of Calcium Phosphate can mean an overproduction of mucus. It is vitally important in digestion and nutrition cannot be absorbed when there is a lack of this cell salt. Acids form from food not properly digested when Calcium is lacking. Other symptoms of lack are poor memory, lack of concentration and weak minds. Also aches and pains in bones and muscles, tooth decay, neuralgias. Loss of hair, sensitivity to light, aching eyeballs, swollen glands, nasal polypi, feeling of coldness and numbness. Pain on swallowing and hoarseness, digestive distress, palpitations of the heart, stunted growth, brittle bones and restless sleep. Some procreative problems due to the fact that there is a great deal of Calcium in the procreative fluid than in the blood itself. Now we know Saturn rules over beginnings and ends we can see why calcium would be in the procreative cells and also the last to disintegrate in the skeleton after death! Those who aspire build their Temple on living Lime-stone as in the Pyramids of Egypt have indeed reached attainment, their goal and end.

The most amazing fact here is that Calcium and Magnesium are not processed in the body without vitamin D. Where do we get vitamin D? From the Sun! Sunlight that is now returning at this time of year! Get an hour of Sun every day to absorb the miraculous energy of the Sun (Light) in order to absorb the calcium to harden and strengthen your foundation for success.

Finally let us discuss the spiritual color for Capricorn which may intrigue you. The color is Red/Violet/Violet. Ultra Violet starts the spectrum and it ends in Red. We now connect the two, closing the circle, forming Red/Violet.

It is a confronting color as it makes one examine attitudes - it stirs you up. It has a great influence over blood pressure, kidney and adrenals and sex drive as it stabilizes the energy. The color has rulership over Lithium, Potassium, Rubidium and Strontium. This may surprise you.

For the lesser evolved using this color can make them tactless irresponsible and capricious. They take a long time to mature. You have to give them space as they can be high-handed and sarcastic. Eventually using more of the violet they gain patience, and an ability to withdraw from overstimulation. They can bide their time as their sense of timing becomes very acute. They become less interested in material things and become more prudent and practical.

Positively the color casts a spell and has a lot to do with Theater and man’s symbolic acting out all the arts to perfection. There is identification with all that is thought and desired and the impulse to make this a reality. There is a mythic union between subject and object. It is enchantment, magic, glamor, fascination and dreams fulfilled. At times it can be hard to distinguish the practical from the visionary. Ultimately they can accomplish a great deal with lots of enthusiasm and versatility. They become sincere, jovial and optimistic. They cannot help but aspire to great heights.

It is the color of the highest order. After all life’s experiences we should have the perfection of the human body with all desires under control and wisdom as its greatest reward. Those with more in their head and less in their pockets make it through the door or gates to Heaven again and become reborn to the Divine.

Notice in the picture the souls exiting Hell through the mouth of a fish into Heaven.

Other symbols for Capricorn are the Dolphin and Narwal (with horn). The “Makara,” which has the head and forelegs of an Antelope and the body and tail of a fish, Indicate the watery origins of man. It is also “Varuna” the Ocean God. This is sometimes mistaken for a Crocodile, Shark, Dolphin or Narwal.

Next month we will enter HEAVEN and the world of the Aquarians!
